Hello Everyone,
Here is a traditional British Soup for you all to try. ๐ฒ๐ต
๐ฌ๐ง A British Traditional Pea Soup with Ham ๐ต
A meaty and vibrant green soup that's a real British classic. This meal is great for using up festive ham leftovers, or as a comforting storecupboard soup. Replace the broth for vegetable broth and leave out the ham for a vegetarian version.
Ready in: 25 minutes
Servings: 4
Ingredients
1 tbsp. Butter
1 Onion, chopped
1 Medium Potato, peeled and diced
1 Liter Ham or Pork Stock
500 Grams Frozen Peas
300 Grams thickly sliced Ham, trimmed of any fat and diced, or cooked Bacon
Salt and Black Pepper, to taste
1. Heat a knob of butter in a saucepan and when lightly foaming gently, cook 1 chopped onion until softened but not colored.
2. Add 1 peeled and diced medium potato and stir to coat in butter.
3. Pour over 1 liter of ham or pork stock. If you ever cook a gammon or ham, strain the liquid and freeze it. This can then be used in soups like this where pork or ham stock is required. If you havenโt got any reserved stock, use pork stock cubes. Simmer until the potato has softened.
4. Add the frozen peas and bring it to the boil. Cook for a couple of minutes.
5. Remove the soup from the heat and blend until smooth. Season with salt and pepper. Stir in the diced ham or bacon and serve.
6. Stir in the diced ham or bacon and serve the pea soup with a good bread
