  • Hello Everyone,

Here is another Russian Recipe for you to try. ๐Ÿ˜

    ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ Knish:

Traditional Jewish treat of little golden pastry domes filled with seasoned mashed potatoes and fried onions.

    Ready in: 2h:

    Servings: 30 knish:

    Ingredients:

4 Baking Potatoes, peeled and cubed
    2 tbsp. Vegetable Oil
    1 Onion, chopped
    ยฝ tsp. Ground Black Pepper
    1 tsp. Salt
    1 tsp. Sugar
    1 Clove Garlic, minced
    1 Eggs
    4 tbsp. Vegetable Oil
    120 ml. Warm Water
    ยฝ Teaspoon Salt
    250 Grams all-purpose Flour
    1 Egg Yolks
    1 tbsp. Milk

    1. Place the potatoes into a large pot and cover with salted water. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer until tender, about 20 minutes. Drain and allow to steam dry for a minute or two.

    2. Heat 2 tablespoons vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Stir in the onion. Cook and stir until the onion has softened and turned translucent, about 5 minutes.

    3. Combine potatoes and onions in a large bowl. Season with 1 teaspoon of salt, the pepper, sugar, and garlic. Mash until smooth and set aside.

    4. Preheat an oven to 375ยฐF or 190ยฐC. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

    5. Beat eggs, 4 tablespoons of vegetable oil, warm water, and ยฝ teaspoon of salt. Gradually stir in flour. When the dough has pulled together, turn it out onto a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic, about 8 minutes.

    6. Divide the dough into thirds and roll each piece out to a rectangle. Spread the potato mixture down the center of each strip. Roll each strip around the filling and gently press to seal. Repeat with the remaining dough and filling to end with three logs.

    7. Cut each log into 2ยฝ centimeter thick slices and place cut side down on the prepared baking sheet. Gently press the edges of the dough toward the center of the potato mixture to form a bun.

    8. Beat the egg yolk and milk together in a small bowl. Brush each knish with the the egg yolk mixture.

    9. Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown, 35 to 45 minutes.

Hope you have fun creating this recipe ๐Ÿ˜
