  • Hello Everyone,

Here is a Swedish Recipe for you to try 😍

Kalops is a rich and comforting Swedish beef stew. It is prepared with chunks of beef that are slowly cooked with onions and spices such as whole peppercorns, bay leaves, and allspice, sometimes with the addition of carrots. Kalops is believed to have originated in the 18th century and has been a wintertime classic ever since. It is traditionally served alongside potatoes and pickled beets.

    Ready in: 1h 30 minutes:

    Servings: 8:

    Ingredients:

2 Kilos of Beef (Chuck or Brisket)
    2 Onions, roughly chopped
    2 Carrots, chopped into chunks
    ½ tbsp. Flour
    6 Bay Leaves
    10-15 Allspice Berries
    4-5 Whole Cloves
25 Grams Canned Anchovies, finely chopped
    4 tbsp. Butter
    Salt, to taste
    Pepper, to taste

    1. Cut the meat into 4 centimeter cubes.

    2. Brown the meat well in a dutch oven or a large cast iron cooking pot on high heat. Do it in a few batches, so that the temperature of the pan doesn't drop when you add meat.

    3. Remove the meat from the pot after browning and season the meat with salt and pepper.

    4. Lower the heat to medium and sweat the onions and carrot for a couple of minutes. Then add the meat back to the pot.

    5. Dust the flour over the meat and vegetables and stir well. Add just enough water so that it covers the meat and vegetables.

    6. Add all the spices as well as the finely chopped anchovies.

    7. Bring the stew to a boil, the simmer on low heat for about 1-1.5 hours, or until the meat is tender. Stir occasionally.

    8. Season to taste with salt and pepper before serving the stew. Serve with boiled potatoes and pickled beetroots.

Hope you have fun making this recipe 😍❤
    All the best,
    LuckyEthel (Caroline) 🇬🇧
